Dr William Lester MBChB BSc FRCP FRCPath PhD is a Consultant Haematologist with over 20 years of specialist consultant experience. He trained in the Midlands and New Zealand.
His NHS practice is at University Hospitals Birmingham, Queen Elizabeth and Birmingham Women's Hospital. Dr Lester is Honorary Clinical Associate Professor in the Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences at the University of Birmingham. He is chair of the
British Society of Haematology Haemostasis and Thrombosis guidelines taskforce and clinical director of NEQAS blood coagulation. His clinical and academic interests include thrombosis, anticoagulation, bleeding disorders and immune haematology.
He is an invited speaker to national and international scientific meetings and has been principal investigator for multiple trials and is published in numerous book chapters and scientific journals.
He has received Thrombus Innovation awards, an RCPath achievement award and has a National Clinical Impact award.
